Backbone Motion by Inverse Kinematics for Protein Design
The second BioGeometry meeting of 2003 will take place at Duke University on Monday-Tuesday, November 17-18. PIs and students from the four participating institutions will attend, as will a representative from the NSF. Motivation: The problem of protein design is to construct an amino acid sequence that folds to a desired structure. PI Homme Hellinga (Duke Biochem) has had significant success i...
متن کاملHybrid Motion Control combining Inverse Kinematics and Inverse Dynamics Controllers for Simulating Percussion Gestures
Virtual characters playing virtual musical instruments in a realistic way need to interact in real-time with the simulated sounding environment. Dynamic simulation is a promising approach to finely represent and modulate this interaction. Moreover, capturing human motion provides a database covering a large variety of gestures with different levels of expressivity. We propose in this paper a ne...
متن کاملProbik: Protein Backbone Motion by Inverse Kinematics
To investigate the parameters of the protein design problem that we are exploring in collaboration with biochemists, we have developed a tool that uses inverse kinematics to support moving small fragments of protein backbone, while respecting biochemists’ desires to “remain in favorable regions of the Ramachandran plot” and “preserve ideal geometry”. By presenting estimates of derivatives in re...
متن کاملForward and inverse kinematics of a hybrid series-parallel manipulator
In this paper, the forward and inverse kinematic relations of a hybrid 6-DOF robotic manipulator, named the H6AR, are presented. The H6AR consists of twin 2-DOF anthropomorphic arms that can move in the vertical plane. These arms are connected, at one end, to a 1-DOF waist and constrained, at the other end, by a novel wrist assembly. The wrist contains an actuator only for the pitching motion a...
متن کاملUsing an Intermediate Skeleton and Inverse Kinematics for Motion Retargeting
In this paper, we present a new method for solving the Motion Retargeting Problem, by using an intermediate skeleton. This allows us to convert movements between hierarchically and geometrically different characters. An Inverse Kinematics engine is then used to enforce Cartesian constraints while staying as close as possible to the captured motion.
